The Sambalpuri Tradition

Questions

Common questions

How long is this piece?

The finished length and width are shown in the dimensions panel and the product details above. As each piece is woven by hand on a traditional loom, allow a natural variance of roughly ±2–3 cm.

Is this a single woven piece?

Yes — it's one continuous handloom piece, woven as a whole. It is not stitched, joined, or made from panels.

Is it genuine handloom?

Every piece is authentic Odisha handloom, woven by our weaver partners. Where it belongs to a GI-recognised tradition (Sambalpuri, Ikat, etc.), that's noted in the provenance section above.

Will the colours run? How do I care for it?

For the first 2–3 washes we recommend a cold-water hand wash, separately, as natural and handloom dyes can release slight excess colour at first. Dry in shade and use a mild detergent. Full care guidance is in the product details.

Is the colour exactly as in the photos?

We photograph every piece as faithfully as we can, but handloom dyes and screen settings mean a slight variation is natural — part of the charm of a genuinely handmade textile.
